John J. Kavanaugh
Head Coach
Coach Kavanaugh brings more than 17 years of experience to FHS, Including 5 years as head football coach. He joins the school from North Caddo High School where he led the program to district championships in 2019, 2020 and 2021 while also finishing each of those seasons in the top 5 of the LHSAA 2A power rankings. His 33-22 head coaching record includes playoff appearances in all 5 years, with playoff wins in 3 of those years. He was the 2019 and 2020 District 1-AA Coach of the Year and Football Country Magazines 2020 Coach of the Year. He has been married to his wife Lisa for 22 years and has two daughters. Lisa works for the Louisiana Department of Education. His oldest daughter Madison is a Sophomore at LSU who has been on the Presidents list every semester of her college career. His youngest Lauren, was recently named student of the year at North Caddo High school. Coach Kavanaugh is the great grandson of Coach Joe Aillet, who the Louisiana Tech University football stadium is named in honor of.
Blaine Nolan
Offensive Line
Blaine Nolan comes to Fontainebleau as the new offensive line coach. A 1991 graduate of Crowley High, Nolan was a 3-year starter, an All-State player on the offensive line and a key member of the 1989 Class 3A state championship team coached by Hall of Famer Louis Cook. Nolan moved onto Mississippi Delta Community College where he was a two-year starter up front and an All-State JUCO selection. Nolan completed his eligibility at Nicholls State where he started his senior year for the Colonels. Nolan spent ten years as a high school football official for the LHSOA and spent six years as a recreation league football coach. Nolan graduated from Nicholls State with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology and has owned and operated Champion Contractors, LLC for over two decades. Nolan is married to Kelly and the couple has two children, Brandon (22) and Blair (17).

Brian Morrow
Defensive Line
Coach Morrow comes to FHS from Plain Dealing High School where he coached for five years, serving three years as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. His teams made 1-A playoff appearances in three seasons. He also served as head baseball coach for the entirety of his time at Plain Dealing, leading the Lions to three playoff appearances. His time at Plain Dealing was preceded by a three year stint at Richwood High School in Monroe, where he served as defensive backs coach. His time with the Rams was highlighted by an appearance in the 2017 Class 3-A finals in the Superdome. Coach Morrow has been married to his wife, Melinda, for 26 years, and they have two daughters, Caitlin and Bailey, who will be seniors this year at FHS. He is a 1992 graduate of Bastrop High School, and holds Bachelor and Master of Arts degrees from the University of Louisiana at Monroe as well as an All But Dissertation designation from LSU. Coach Morrow will also serve on Coach Christian Hahn's staff as assistant softball coach.
David Dragg
Co-Offensive Coordinator
Coach Dragg graduated from Covington High School and then attended SLU. He is married to his wife Angela and has three beautiful children; Quinton, Becca and Mary Jo. He also has four granddaughters; Reighley, Reagan, Harper and Rowan. Coach Dragg teaches Algebra III and is an offensive assistant for FHS. He is also the golf coach. He previously coached football and softball at Northlake Christian School and Springfield High school. He joined the team at FHS in 2013.
Gino Gioe
LB and Special Teams Coordinator
Coach Gioe is married to his wife Eden Buuck Gioe. He is entering into his second year as the linebackers coach at Fontainebleau High School. Coach Gioe graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science – Health and Physical Education. His previous coaching experience is as follows: From 2012-2014, He was the Student Assistant/Equipment Manager at Southeastern Louisiana University. From 2015-2019, he coached at Archbishop Hannan High School. He was the Linebackers coach and assistant Softball coach. From 2020-2021, He coached at Mandeville High School as the Linebackers coach.
Chase Hammant
Defensive Coordinator
Coach Hammant is a familiar face at Fontainebleau. He served as defensive coordinator in 2022. He brings energy and continuity to the program and looks to build on last year. He will lead a squad that's expected to include 6 returning senior starters. Previous coaching stops include Northshore and Mandeville.
Austin McKay
DB and Strength and Conditioning
Coach McKay graduated from Fontainebleau High School in 2019. He played football at FHS all four years and also competed in track and powerlifting. After high school, he attended Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and played football for three years. In 2023, Coach McKay graduated from Rhodes with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. This is his second year as a teacher at Fontainebleau High School, and he is currently teaching science. This is Coach McKay’s second year as a varsity coach but his first as the Defensive Backs and Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Freshmen
Joel Brumfield
Freshmen Head Coach
Coach Brumfield is entering into his first year at the Freshmen Head Coach at Fontainebleau High School. He was the wide receivers coach last year and this is his fifth year overall at FHS. He has previously served as freshmen offensive coordinator and freshmen linemen coach at Fontainebleau for his first three years at Fontainebleau. Coach Brumfield has been married to his wife, Cheyenne Brumfield, for 4 years and they have two daughters, Janie Beth and Nola. Coach Brumfield graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education. His previous coaching experience is as follows: From 2015-2018, he was an assistant coach at Bowling Green School in Franklinton. There he coached both offensive and defensive lines. From 2019-2020, he coached at Port Allen High School. He was the offensive line coach and assistant powerlifting coach. Coach Brumfield brings continuity and passion to the program. He also serves as an assistant coach in both basketball and softball.
Mario Maldonado
Freshmen Defensive Coordinator
Coach Mario Maldonado is entering his eighth year at Fontainebleau High School, and his first with the football program. The last 3 years he served as secondary coach for the Lakeshore High School football program. Coach Mario, is married to Duanne Maldonado and if not coaching he and his wife Duanne are active spectators at their 5 sons sporting activities. Coach Maldonado graduated from Tulane University and is excited about the opportunity to coach at Fontainebleau High School. Coach Maldonado intends to bring excitement, enthusiasm and high energy when coaching the kids at Fontainebleau High school. Besides football, Coach Maldonado will be coaching powerlifting as well.

I am the Freshmen Offensive Coordinator. This is my 1st year coaching at Fontainebleau High School. However, I coached at Northshore High School for 3 seasons while I earned my B.A. from Southeastern Louisiana University.
